GLEAP Appeals to the Community for Help
The Grand Ledge Area Emergency Assistance Program is appealing to the community for help. GLEAP is a small, local non-profit that maintains an emergency fund for residents of the Grand Ledge School District who are experiencing a financial crisis. GLEAP partners with the Grand Ledge Food Bank to provide food, assistance with utilities and delinquent rent, prescriptions, and other emergency needs.
GLEAP receives about $5,000 per month in requests for emergency help. For the past few years, GLEAP has been able to raise sufficient funds to meet these requests. For the past five months, however, GLEAP has seen the pace of its donations decline. Donations of just over $22,000 were received during that period, while expenditures exceeded $28,000.
If you can help, please send a contribution to GLEAP at P. O. Box 406, Grand Ledge, MI 48837. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extend allowed by law. GLEAP can also be reached at gleap.net.
